Thales (formerly Gemalto) has developed the powerful cloud-based solution SafeNet Trusted Access (STA). Most are already familiar with two-factor authentication (2FA): an authentication method consisting of two steps. STA makes logging in simpler, more secure, and goes beyond traditional 2FA.

The purpose of two-factor authentication is solely to provide quick and secure access to your network for the right individuals and to prevent anyone who shouldn't be there from gaining entry. With SafeNet Trusted Access, remote login is just as secure as logging in from within the network. The two authentication factors confirm the identity of the individual requesting access.

You have two installation options to implement SafeNet Trusted Access:

Cloud edition
SafeNet Trusted Access is a fully managed service by Thales, offered and maintained by them. This option provides the highest level of security, with all communication passing through SafeNet's secure servers. Your organization will have its own environment where users, tokens, reports, and templates can be managed through a web-based management interface.

On premise edition
With this package, you run the SafeNet Trusted Access software on your own server. In terms of functionality, this option offers the same capabilities as the Cloud edition; however, in this case, you are responsible for managing, backing up, and performing updates yourself.
