Desktop Central is now Endpoint Central
As of this summer Desktop Central will continue under the name Endpoint Central. What started 16 years ago as a new product to replace client management tools has now grown into a full-fledged tool for Unified Endpoint Management. Around 2010 mobile device management was added and later (in 2012) improved security features. After that ManageEngine also made the product available for the cloud, automated several daily tasks like on/offboarding and made the tool available for practically every type of endpoint imaginable.
The name Desktop Central clearly no longer covered the load, which is why ManageEngine chose to rebrand. Endpoint Central is a name that accurately reflects the full feature set and capabilities.
What will change for you?
In essence, not much changes. The functionalities remain the same, only the name and branding change.
Manageengine will of course continue to develop. So Endpoint Central, like Desktop Central, will continue to improve and expand with new features. The roadmap can be viewed online and is based on the belief that the market will become increasingly hybrid. A combination of On-premise, cloud, virtual, physical machines, conventional office workers and remote users. In addition, the further development focuses on an optimal integration of Endpoint security and UEM.
